Erik’s design talents enable him to quickly and expertly portray and illustrate a range of viable options and solutions for any given architectural challenge. He has vast experience on a variety of higher education facilities including student housing and related student life buildings. As the design principal of Hastings+Chivetta, Erik oversees and guides the design of the majority of the firm’s projects.
Erik seeks to plan and design buildings that enhance the quality of student life and contribute value to the contextual environment of the school campus. His award-winning design excellence comes from the physical expression of sound ideas, innovation, creativity combined with the open flow of communication with college and university stakeholders. He constantly strives to meet high-quality design that meets the goals, schedules, and cost objectives of the firm’s clients.
Erik has been with the firm for over 24 years and has been involved in the design process of numerous projects across the country. His expertise and immense experience in the design of wellness, fitness, recreation, and sports facilities are invaluable assets to our clients.
Erik received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Grinnell College and Master of Architecture degree from Washington University. NCARB and LEED Accredited, he is a registered architect in 23 states.
Erik frequently presents a wide range of architectural topics at professional organizations and is often asked to speak at special events. He has been published in many publications including local, national, and trade newspapers and magazines.
