In 2002, Hastings+Chivetta was commissioned by University of Tulsa to update the existing Master Plan along with a campus-wide Space Utilization Study.  Through study findings and the updated plan, H+C identified several projects as being critical facilities to the University of Tulsa campus. With approval from TU administration, H+C started the planning process to site and design the desired new facilities, including one for the Lorton Performance Center. The building is sited at the edge of campus for easy access by the public to serve both the campus and broader community.
