Wabash College was founded in 1832 as an independent, liberal arts college for men. Its mission "to impart wisdom and knowledge and to teach sound judgment and character" has remained constant since its beginning. The administration sought to continue providing a high-quality liberal arts education while enhancing student life opportunities. Hastings & Chivetta developed a comprehensive master plan for the campus that identified, among many issues, the need for additional athletic and recreation space and provided design services for the new Allen Athletics and Recreation Center.
The original Chadwick Court was renovated with new flooring, bleachers, sound system, HVAC, lighting, and scoreboards. The existing auxiliary court contains a new 100-student classroom and athletic department offices. The original natatorium facility now houses a wrestling room, racquetball courts, and multipurpose space. The 200-meter Knowling Field House and eight-lane, stretch pool are new additions. The fitness center and lounge are also new spaces joining the natatorium with the existing Chadwick Court lobby. The entire lower level of the facility was renovated and reorganized to provide locker and training room spaces. |
