| The Roosevelt Federal Savings and Loan Headquarters is located on a major western access into St. Louis. The six-story glass facade reflects the surrounding countryside and landscaped entry plaza, creating a unique corporate identity and western gateway to the city. In response to the client's demands for both a public banking facility and corporate home, the lobby contains a six-story skylit landscaped atrium. This atrium provides a sense of corporate unity and creates an impressive banking lobby for the walk-up facilities on the first floor. The project employed a modified design/build process, whereby a pricing package consisting of plans and performance specifications was used to select mechanical and electrical design/build contractors by competitive bidding process. The design/build engineers then became part of the architectural/engineering team for completion of construction documents coordinated by Hastings & Chivetta. |
