The Huff Athletic Center at Monmouth College is a comprehensive facility for sports, fitness, and recreation. Designed by Hastings+Chivetta and built by Pepper Construction, the 154,00 SF complex is constructed around the original 1925 gymnasium and the more recent Glennie Gymnasium.
A large addition to the west contains a natatorium with an eight-lane competition pool, a steam room and sauna, and a multipurpose field house with a 200-meter track. The track’s infield space accommodates jumping and throwing events, and includes practice space for basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer and baseball.
The original gymnasium was transformed into the Trotter Fitness Complex, complete with cardio/aerobic equipment, free weights and a climbing wall. The gym’s former performance stage was converted to an aerobics and dance studio.
The Glennie Gymnasium was updated with contemporary stadium-style seating, a new air-handling system and an updated sound system. Next to the performance gymnasium are new locker rooms with accommodations for varsity and visiting teams. The spacious Marshall Training Room is outfitted with whirlpool baths, training tables and therapeutic devices.
