University of Central Missouri provides world-class information resources and wanted a state-of-the-art library to reflect its reputation.

Hastings+Chivetta, in association with Shepley, Bulfinch, Richardson, and Abbott, was selected to provide programming and design for the new James C. Kirkpatrick Library. Each floor of this dramatic three-story building offers students access to CMSU’s extensive services.

Technology spaces include laptop stations, computer classrooms, and the Harmon Computer Commons, the largest computer lab on campus, which features more than 300 computers for student use.

The library’s interior is supported by sophisticated indirect lighting especially designed for use with a variety of computers and other technology.

Through Hastings+Chivetta’s architectural solutions, the library has become an advanced information center that supports CMSU’s mission as a leader in technology integration in teaching and research.
