Deaconess Health System

Master Plan and Facility Renovation

Tenet/Deaconess Health System acquired an existing hospital in St. Louis County. Built in 1972, the 150-bed facility had experienced extremely low occupancy rates, so Hastings+Chivetta was hired to transform the existing building into a state-of-the-art healthcare facility.

Services included analyzing current space, defining services and determining the comprehensive technology and building systems that were needed to support a medical facility of this size. The team also discussed needs with key administrators, directors and department heads.

Staff walked the team through procedures to determine functional adjacencies and movement of personnel, patients and equipment. Conceptual designs and cost estimates were developed.

Renovated spaces include the emergency room, admitting office, lobby, medical records, doctors lounges, patient care areas, and specialized treatment areas including the hemodialysis suite, histology lab, central lab, EMG and EEG treatment, GI lab and cardiopulmonary labs. Major expansions and renovations were completed on the CAT scan area, operating rooms, and non-invasive vascular lab and ultrasound.
