Church of Annunziata

Parish Master Plan and Church Addition

The Church of the Annunziata wanted to expand the activities within their parish to respond to the needs of their Catholic community. The expansion had to protect, respect and enhance the integrity, solemnity and prominence of the historic architecture of the Church. Hastings+Chivetta was selected to provide a master plan to help reach their vision.

Services included assessment of existing facilities on the campus. Site analysis of property ownership, setbacks, topography, utilities, vegetation, buildings and paving were used in development of new design concepts. Parishioners were active in the process, providing feedback in interviews and workshops.

Hastings+Chivetta’s master plan allows the front entry to remain the predominant feature of the Church. A major improvement was the addition of a new Parish Center to accommodate large events as well as to provide new space for Parish offices, meeting rooms, foodservice facilities and a chapel. The addition will duplicate the church architecture.

Other recommendations include renovation of the school building to update teaching spaces and technology and to accommodate evening and Sunday classes; reconfiguration of the roadways and walkways; increased parking, and improved accessibility throughout the campus.
