Virginia Polytechnic Institute

Student Health and Fitness Center

For Virginia Tech, Hastings+Chivetta designed the Institute’s Student Health and Fitness Center to offer physical education, recreation, preventative health, and emergency services for students and faculty.

Recreation activity zones include an eight-lane, 25-yard lap pool with spectator seating; a weight room; multipurpose rooms; and a three-court gymnasium with a suspended three-lane track. Administrative offices for the recreation and physical education departments are located in a separate suite.

Two separate components make up the health activity zone: the counseling center and the health services clinic. The counseling center features testing, treatment, and observation rooms. The health services center contains an emergency room with receiving area, a minor surgery suite, and exam treatment rooms.
