The new Steven J. Cage Athletic & Recreation Center was designed by Hastings+Chivetta to be the heart of campus life at Berry. The spacious lobby features massive columns and serves as a social spot with comfortable seating and a large-screen television.
The performance arena seats nearly 2,000 spectators for athletic competitions and can convert into three recreational courts. Floor seating increases capacity by an additional 900 seats for other events.
The natatorium has an eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool with an observation balcony and a wet classroom. The fitness center features cardio and strength-training equipment and free weights. Other components include two racquetball courts, a multi-activity court, multipurpose rooms and an elevated track.
Health and wellness amenities include an athletic training center, two kinesiology and exercise science classrooms, and an exercise science laboratory for student experimentation and research. Five sets of locker rooms are available for intercollegiate athletics, separate from the set available for recreational users.
Departmental offices are located in the new Center along with the Hall of Berry Sports History and the President’s Suite, which overlooks the performance arena.
