The Family Arena

As a result of a design/build competition, Hastings+Chivetta, in partnership with J.S. Alberici Construction, was selected to design this 10,000-seat arena. The Family Arena is a multi-functional facility, acting as the home venue for the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League and St. Louis Swarm of the International Basketball League. The arena’s primary uses are ice hockey, basketball, family shows, concerts, equestrian events, trade shows, conventions and indoor motor sports. The arena can accommodate changes in the performance floor and required seating in less than four hours.

A grand staircase in the main lobby leads to the concourse and upper levels of the facility. All of the seating for the arena is accessible from the concourse level. The performance level is placed at existing grade to allow for disabled access and easy access for delivery vehicles. This level contains all of the event support functions, including a ticket office, guest services, first aid, security, and administrative offices.
