Keeping Your Rec Center Looking Like New

Hastings+Chivetta’s Erik Kocher recently collaborated with Diane Dahlmann, the University of Missouri Columbia’s Executive Director of MizzouRec Services and Facilities, on an article for Athletic Business magazine with tips on how to keep your rec center looking and functioning like new.

High traffic building like campus recreation centers are going to be subject to some serious wear and tear, but there are steps that can be taken to keep your rec center looking like new.  Erik and Diane discuss several ideas for maintaining that “new car smell” ranging from the obvious – pay special attention to finish and materials selection – to some that maybe aren’t at the top of your list – pay special attention to product warranties.

This is not the first collaboration between Hastings+Chivetta and Mizzou.  In 2005, the University completed the Hastings+Chivetta designed expansion and renovation of the Student Recreation Complex.  This cutting-edge facility, of more than 220,000 SF, is the largest recreation center ever built in the history of Missouri higher education, and it is one of the top five largest recreation facilities in the nation.
