Mayfield Hall Renovation

Mayfield Hall at John Brown University has been a historic “home away from home” for nearly 10,000 women over 52 years.

Hastings+Chivetta designed the much-needed renovation of the housing facility to accommodate the roughly 240 women that reside there today.

The two-story residence hall was built in a U-shape with a beautiful courtyard in the center. Each room is joined by a spacious lobby looking out toward the courtyard which has outdoor seating and a fire pit.

Each of the resident rooms has high-efficiency LED lighting, sound-resistant construction, and new, modular furniture, which allows residents to maximize and personalize their room. The renovation also included new bathrooms and plumbing; new furniture, equipment and décor for all of the common areas; a new HVAC system; and a modern fire suppression system.

The renovation allows JBU to continue to provide an excellent residential experience for women while they discover God’s purpose for their life and develop lifelong friendships.
