Cadet Fitness Center at the US Air Force Academy Earns LEED Gold

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

Congratulations to the US Air Force Academy on earning LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for their Fitness Center Addition. The facility is designed to achieve a series of sustainability goals, including increased energy savings, use of lighting control systems, use of recycled building materials, and responsible management of construction waste.

The addition features a large weight training room with plenty of daylight, an overlooking cardio mezzanine, and a fencing gym that is home to the Academy’s highly-competitive NCAA Division 1 program.  The Air Force Academy campus is a designated National Historic Landmark District, and the Fitness Center Addition seamlessly blends with the existing design aesthetic.

Hastings+Chivetta and Korte Construction were the design-build partners for this project.
