It’s All in the Details

Sometimes small details make all the difference in our perception of spaces.  Our architects look for opportunities to create visual interest and appeal in unexpected places, including racquetball courts.

Athletic Business featured a detailing technique used by Hastings+Chivetta in the racquetball courts at Marietta College’s Dyson Baudo Recreation Center – we extended the wood floors of the courts beyond the glass court wall, and ran the extended floor strips perpendicular to the court.  This detail creates an interesting architectural element and a sense of openness in the corridor space.

The new Recreation Center and field house were added at Marietta College to create a home for varsity and intramural athletics, and gave students and staff new space for recreation activities.
