Visit Us at NIRSA 2022 – March 29-April 1, 2022

Thursday, March 24, 2022

The Hastings+Chivetta team will be attending and presenting at the highly anticipated 72nd NIRSA Annual Conference to take place March 29-April 1, 2022 in Portland, Oregon.

The NIRSA Annual Conference is an engaging collegiate recreation-centered event in which colleagues and students from across the country meet to network, gain fresh perspectives, and learn about the latest innovations advancing campus recreation facilities and programs.  Design Principal Erik Kocher and Leader of Client Development Dan Sullivan will be in attendance and presenting.  Sullivan comments, “This conference is always so engaging because we have the opportunity to connect with the lifeblood of collegiate recreation – campus recreation leaders and their students – in a setting unlike any other.  The attendees always bring so much energy and excitement for collegiate recreation, so it’s always amazing to share in that common love and reconnect to what makes our day-to-day design work so impactful.”

Erik Kocher and Dan Sullivan will be delivering a dynamic presentation on outdoor recreation spaces entitled “Take the Party Outside: The Next Generation of Facility Design” on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 2:30pm to 3:30pm PST.  They will discuss one of the latest emerging trends in sports and recreation design – outdoor fitness spaces that allow for unique personal, team, and group exercise programming opportunities.  Erik and Dan, along with collegiate recreation leaders Amy Swingle and Suzanne Reis, will take guests through the details and design considerations of this increasingly popular amenity that provides students and staff the ultimate well-ventilated environment for exercise.  Amy Swingle, Director of Recreation at University of West Georgia, is a highly experienced collegiate recreation professional with 27 years of experience.  She was instrumental in the design and construction of the new Recreation and Wellness Center during her tenure as Director of Recreation at Florida Gulf Coast University.  Suzanne Reis, Associate Director of Facility Operations at Florida Gulf Coast University, has 16 years of experience in collegiate recreation and collaborated with Hastings+Chivetta to construct a new outdoor fitness space for the University as an addition to the Recreation and Wellness Center completed in 2020.

Erik and Dan look forward to reconnecting with past clients, building new relationships, and talking all things collegiate recreation architecture and design.  Learn a bit more about both of H+C’s attendees below.
