Campus Master Plan

Texas Lutheran University commissioned a comprehensive master plan that included space utilization analysis, programming, projection of cost, a facilities condition index and an illustrative master plan. To assist with this effort, the university hand-picked a team of firms that interviewed separately. Hastings+Chivetta was chosen as the lead firm.

Currently the campus lacks clarity in its vehicular and pedestrian circulation, which complicates way-finding and deters from a sense of campus community. Major improvements include campus approach, entrances, circulation, infrastructure and four major building projects:

Performing/Fine Arts
The university’s existing Performing Art Center is master planned for a 71,430 SF expansion to co-locate existing dramatic media, music and visual art facilities.

Student Housing
Strategies to improve and expand student housing over time align with the university’s goal to grow its residential population.

Athletics / Recreation
Athletics and recreation are master planned for significant improvement, including a dramatic new football stadium, expanded practice and intramural fields, and new construction.

Student Center / Library
A strategy to connect the Student Center and the library with 42,918 SF of new construction is proposed as an addition. An alternate option is a new Student Center of 74,918 SF.
